A Shawl and a Prayer
This week I gave my first prayer shawl to a lady that has breast cancer. I actually presented to her husband and he proudly delivered it to her. The look on his face was priceless as was the joy that feeled my heart to use the gift that God gave me to be a blessing to others.
Sometimes the things we think as small and insignificant are the very things that God wants us to use so that He can get the glory. I had been crocheting off and on for years but never thought of this as a ministry.
Jack (not his real name) eagerly shared his wife’s gratitude with me. He told me that she wore the shawl around her all evening. I had not known before that because of her surgery, she often felt cold at the spot of the operation. He told me that she would often sit with an old ratty blanket to provide warmth to the area.
It’s amazing how the Holy Spirit directs our lives and our works when we make ourselves available and not be consumed with our own lives so much so that we forget about being a blessing to others.
Completing this first shawl has sparked a passion and a knowing in me that noone can take away because I know that God has called me to express His love to hurting women in this unique and special way.
