First Prayer Shawl for Breast Cancer
On yesterday I started crocheting my very first prayer shawl. This prayer shawl is for a friend, whose wife was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple months ago.
I am crocheting the prayer shawl in her favorite color of deep blue. The actual color is from Lion Brand, Home Spun Yard in Colonial.
When I began crocheting the prayer shawl on yesterday, I asked the Lord to give me the focus to finish it as quickly as I can. She had surgery last month to remove the lump from her breast and will begin chemotherapy soon.
This is the scripture that came to me as I started the first stitches of the prayer shawl. ” Surely he hath bourne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” Isaiah 53:5,6
I often hear of the trauma that chemotherapy causes to the body. Literally killing out the body’s entire immune system as it kills the disease. Lord, give her super natural strength to weather this storm. We know that you are with us in whatever situation we find ourselves in.

Our prayer shawl ministry makes “breast cancer” shawls in pink and white, since that is the colors used to promote breast cancer awareness. We also make red, white, blue ones to give to veterans or wounded military.
